Beginner Options

#1 Establishing a Mindset – The trainer will dive into the history of GMM’s origin and point out the pedagogical differences between a classroom focused on frequent, individualized, cumulative review and a typical math classroom that only focuses on the constant progression of new content.  We will discuss the benefits of this shift and the challenges a teacher might face. This session is required for all first-time trainings. (45 minutes)

#2 Getting Started – The trainer will walk through the basic steps of setting up a GMM® classroom.  Topics include creating classes, creating new students, finding existing students, creating work, navigating the skills bank and accessing reports.  Teachers will get hands on experience with the teacher application.(approximately 45 minutes)

#3 Interactive Classroom Demonstration – Teachers love this part of the training.  We turn the tables, and your teachers become our students in a GMM classroom.  We demonstrate effective implementation of GMM as a class warm-up, in-class practice, and cumulative review over the course of an entire class period.  We demonstrate appropriate uses of formative assessment during the teachers’ lesson and guided practice as well as our preferred method of gradual release of students to independent practice.  Teachers will see how to monitor student progress, identify struggling students, and assist those students resulting in high quality engagement.  Teachers get to experience the student application, while observing effective use of the teacher program by the trainer. (approximately 90 minutes)

#4 Exams – Using Exams for more than just a score in our gradebooks!  This training will cover the basics of Exams in GMM from creation, to grading, to analyzing results to inform further practice and assessment. But we will also explain how to capitalize on the power of cumulative exams, exam corrections and individualized follow-up Exams.  Exams in Get More Math® will not only save your teachers time but will stop the cycle of cram-and-flush to better prepare your students for large end of year assessments. (approximately 60 minutes)

Advanced Options

#5 Mixed Review Data Analysis & Action – The trainer will walk your teachers through the data collected on Mixed Review skills.  We will discuss appropriate ranges for success and necessary changes.  We will guide teachers in the correct ways to manage and prune their Mixed Review collections.  Teachers will analyze their own data and make informed decisions for effective pruning of Mixed Review skills.  This option is only viable after teachers have collected enough data to be analyzed. We suggest at least 4-6 weeks of usage. (approximately 90 minutes)

#6 Student Data & Working with Exceptional Students – The trainer will walk your teachers through the data collected on individual students.  We will discuss what metrics communicate success and retention and what metrics warrant intervention and action. We will also discuss best practices for working with exceptionally high or low ability students.  This option is only viable after teachers have collected enough data to be analyzed. We suggest at least 4-6 weeks of usage. (approximately 60 minutes)

#7 Class and Student Data Analysis & Action – If combined, sessions #5 and #6 can be completed in one 2-hour session.  During this session, our trainer will review the data reports for both classes and students in one comprehensive session.  We suggest at least 4-6 weeks of usage. (approximately 2 hours)

Administrator Options

#8 District & School Level Reports: Analysis & Action – Our trainer will review the various administrator reports offered through our Get More Math administrator portal.  These will include the summary, district, school, and teacher level reports.  We will also show the administrators how this relates to the data reports exposed to the teachers.  Most importantly we will talk about warning signs and actions necessary for improvement. (60 minutes)

#9 Observation Checklist – Ever wonder what one might see in our most successful GMM classrooms?  In this training, we will review and discuss what administrators should observe before, during, and after a successful lesson with GMM.  (60 minutes)
